Mathematics for Years 3 to 10 runs in groups of three to four, matched by the current NSW Mathematics syllabus stage rather than school year alone, working through the topic a student's school is teaching that fortnight as well as the gap underneath it. Geometry, fractions, algebra and early trigonometry are taught with physical tools, ruler, grid paper and blocks, before they are taught with a calculator, because a student who can draw the angle usually stops fearing the formula for it.

Per student, per one hour session, in a group of three to four. The lower figure is the standard weekly group rate; the higher figure is a casual single session with no ongoing booking.

Every session: 60 minutes, weekly. You always know which part you're on.

  2. 02 Group matched by syllabus stage
  3. 03 Weekly session following the term topic plan
  4. 04 Practice set given for the week between sessions
  5. 05 Term review against the topic plan

Do you follow the maths our school is teaching or your own program?

Both. Priya checks what each student's school is covering that fortnight and folds it into the session, alongside whatever gap the placement check found underneath it.

Is a calculator used in these sessions?

Not for most of Years 3 to 8. We work through the reasoning with a ruler, grid paper and physical models first, and bring in a calculator once the underlying method is solid, usually from Year 9 onward.
