The workbook and marked essay pages in the second film are what a Wednesday looks like in this room: past papers flipped through, feedback pages with corrections rather than just a grade, and a student working out why a paragraph did not land before writing the next one. Years 7 to 10 English runs in small groups, working on textual analysis, persuasive and creative writing structure and, closer to assessment time, marked practice pieces matched to the actual task a student's school has set.

Per student, per one hour session, in a group of three to four. The lower figure is the standard weekly group rate; the higher figure is a casual single session with no ongoing booking.

Every session: 60 minutes, weekly. You always know which part you're on.

  2. 02 Group matched by year and assessment schedule
  3. 03 Weekly session on structure, analysis or a marked practice piece
  4. 04 Written feedback returned within a week for any marked piece
  5. 05 Term review of writing progress

Can you help with a specific assessment task rather than a general program?

Yes. Bring the task sheet and we will plan the session around it, usually across two or three sessions in the lead up to the due date rather than a full term commitment if that is all you need.

How is a practice essay marked?

Against the same criteria your child's school uses where we have it, with written comments in the margin rather than a grade alone, returned within a week.
